PICKING A FOAM THICKNESS FOR YOUR PROJECT:

1mm - 3mm

 

These thinner thicknesses of foam is perfect for:

 

  • - Small details (2-3mm)
  • - Feathers (1-2mm)
  • - Using as a base for Worbla armour (1-3mm)
  • - Overlaying details (1-3mm)
  • - Extremely thin armour such as:
          •       - Neck corset (3mm)

4mm - 6mm

 

These thicknesses of foam is perfect for:

 

  • - Very thin armour such as elven styles (4mm)
  • - Standard helmet and armour plates (5-6mm)
  • - Chunky details on thick armour (4-6mm)
  •  

 

8mm - 10mm

 

These chunky thicknesses of foam is perfect for:

 

-Bulky armours such as: Power armour, Space Marine or WoW (8-10mm)

-Layering into large props (8-10mm)

-Structure for larger then life costumes or displays (10mm)

 

Once you have decided on your thickness and type of foam, you can use these handy links to take your to the product.

 

How much foam you need will really depend on how much armour you need to make, how many layers it has and if you will be making any mistakes. As a general rule: 3 full sheets for a simple build for someone of average height and stature. You will need more or less foam depending on your own height and body proprotions and the level of detail in your armour.

Cut 'N' Stick adhesive-backed EVA Foam

EVA Foam Prop Block

This giant block of foam is ideal for carving props and sets.

 

It's a higher density foam so it cuts, sands and carves easier while still being lightweight. Eva is ideal for props because its soft, so it's con safe, but not brittle.

Textured Form-Lite EVA Foam

Our Textured EVA Foam is available in 4 textures:

-Mini hex (shown in the sample)

-Big hex

-Diamond grip

-Croc hide

 

To use, simply cut out a piece of textured foam for the size of your project, heat the back side with a heat gun and then form to the required shape.
